Mission: Even for those of us who live for a surgical career, not knowing what to specialize in or how to get a head start can seem like such daunting hurdles. The Pre-Surgery Society aims to help aspiring surgeons turn both of these challenges into unique opportunities by presenting our research on specialties and advancements in the field, demystifying and providing preparation for the med school process, providing a bridge between students and hands-on pre-med experience, inviting our members to guest presentations from our community’s top specialists; and sharing the pre-med skills that those same physicians know lead to success. At our meetings, we strive to share our love for surgery by ensuring that every member walks away having learned and understood an exciting topic. Even though medicine is full of big words and complicated ideas, our mission is to simplify the path to surgery—a tenet we uphold everywhere possible. Membership is open to all students from any major in order to advance their interest and education in surgery.
